Grayson Avenue

Dual Occupancy

Currently under construction

This project came from a long term client wanting to find a corner site in Newcastle that they could build two dwellings on. After months of searching for a site that met the brief the Grayson Avenue property was found. As the site was on a corner, it was decided to highlight the corner of the property and align a feature timber-look clad wall with the property boundary. This timber-look theme was continued to the second dwelling with timber-look battens highlighting the façade and creating a double height void over the entry to the dwelling.

This project at completion will include 2 x two-storey homes each with 4x bedrooms; open plan kitchen/dining/living opening onto generous outdoor entertaining areas and associated courtyards.

The aesthetic was to be clean and minimal, utilising contrasting colour palettes for each dwelling to aid in clearly identifying them as individual dwellings. The use of various timber-look battens + cladding profiles throughout, as well as metal window hoods to break up the facades, which aid in creating privacy, sun protection and creating contrast throughout the ever moving shadows cast on the facades of the buildings.
