This project was the result of a family trying to create their forever home on various sites over the years, and finally coming across the perfect lot which could accommodate a large family and have enough room for a second house for the clients mother.

The brief was to create a large family home that could be zoned off to easily allow the children and parents their own spaces, but also have a large communal living area and outdoor entertaining space in the centre of the home where both parents and children could enjoy together.

Inspiration was taken from various places, including their love of the architecture of New Zealand. Making the most of the light, and views towards the mountain ranges was essential and was where the gable form idea for the central living area was born.
