Longworth Road

New dwelling

This project came about when the clients lost their home to the devastating floods that hit the Mid North Coast in March 2021. To avoid the same thing happening again the decision was made to knock down the severely flood damaged home and design a new home completely above any flood levels, whilst meeting the wants and needs of their growing family and making the most of their surrounds.

The design includes all of the family’s day-to-day living on the top floor, with a generous open plan living - dining - kitchen + deck orientated to the north, with filtered views of the river.

The master bedroom suite is located at the rear of the home, with views of both the bushland reserve at the rear (south) and large windows orientated to the river (north) allowing for passive cooling of the rooms whilst making the most of the surrounding features.

As the site is flood prone the undercroft is to remain open allowing for vehicle parking and a ground floor entertaining space opening onto the rear yard and bushland.

The aesthetic is of a contemporary coastal style, incorporating large expanses of glazing, raked ceilings and a clean and minimal lines throughout.
